Introduction
The RS-202 is a pump-action shotgun of Italian origin. It was developed somewhere in the 1980's for civilian and law enforcement use.
Design
The RS-200 is a pump-action shotgun with a conventional layout. It has a wooden stock that doubles as a grip, a light alloy receiver and a tubular magazine that doubles as a guide rail for the slider. Law enforcement models are fitted with a plastic side folding stock. The RS-202 models differ from the RS-200 in their feed mechanism. They have a bolt disconnecting lever that allows chambered shells to be extracted without firing. Shells can also be manually fed into the barrel, which is useful when when different types of ammunition are used.
Firepower
The RS-202 fires 12 gauge shotgun shells. Typically 2.75-inch shells are used, but 3-inch Magnum rounds can be fired as well. The pump-action mechanism allows low powered rounds to be fired, such as non-lethal rounds tipically used by law enforcement. The tubular magazine holds 7 rounds, plus a single round ready to fire in the chamber. Civilian models have a longer barrel and a 7 round magazine.
Users
The RS-200 series is used in limited numbers by various nations around the world. The most prominent users are law enforcement units. The RS-200 series is also sold on the civilian market.
